Dane County Restorative Justice Coalition
Mission Statement:
The Dane Restorative Justice Coalition (DRJC) is organized for the purpose of transforming the justice system in schools and communities in Dane County through a social and racial justice lens. Through education, advocacy, and program evaluation, we aim to establish a continuum of restorative justice practices available from youth into adulthood.
Dane County Restorative Justice coalition is a group of interdisciplinary stakeholders, practitioners, and advocates who meet monthly to encourage a smooth continuation of Restorative Justice throughout Dane County. We seek funding opportunities to create and sustain diversionary, intervention programs for youth and adults in school and community settings. We work collaboratively to create educational opportunities for community members and professionals. Finally, the coalition works to create evaluative tools to measure successful implementation of programs.
The DRJC meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 9:30-11am at YWCA Empowerment Center (2040 S. Park Street Madison, WI)

County Wide Restorative Justice Assessment
In 2017, the Dane County Restorative Justice Coalition collaboratively applied for a Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) grant to improve and expand the continuum of Restorative Justice throughout Dane County. In early 2018, YWCA used awarded funds to create a new position, a "Restorative Justice Outreach Liaison". At the end 2019, the YWCA Madison contracted with University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Community and Non Profit Studies (CommNS) and Ubuntu Research & Evaluation to conduct a needs assessment to inform the future of local restorative justice efforts and evaluation of current restorative justice activities.
